Ahhhh, I Don't Get It

Kate Bosworth for Vanessa Bruno F/W 2011. I am not sure if I like it because it's weird as hell, or if I hate it. Either way, it has me wondering. The vickingesque clothing however, I am just hating.

Has It Not Been 15 Minutes Yet?

She writes? Who knew she could even read!
It appears that this time, Tyra Banks may have actually lost her mind. Apparently now an author, Tyra is set to release her work of fiction, Modelland, September 13, 2011. If you buy this book, you are as crazy as she is. Just saying.

It's Been A Bit...

First of all, let me apologize profusely for the lack in posts the last couple of weeks. Between a new job and planning a wedding that's coming up in two months, life has been a bit hectic folks. So to show you how sorry I am, I bring you....

Smurfette!

Harper's Bazaar has chosen the fictional blue lady to model their favorite fall 2011 accessories for their August issue. Posing in Lanvin and Marc Jacobs to name a few, it has never been so fashionable to be an illustration. Unless of course you're Marge Simpson in Chanel in the 2007 August issue of Harper's.

Missing That Catalog Cash

Arizona Muse for Louis Vuitton Resort 2012
I was hoping someone could explain the appeal of this girl to me? Her legs are much too short for her very long torso, the hair was cute for a minute but really, get the girl some extensions or something, and there is absolutely no life in her eyes. She looks bored out of her mind. I really think she looked happier working for Urban Outfitters.

Don't believe me? Here's the close up.

Holy Poach Artist Mr. Rowland!

Bambi Northwood Blyth

Julia Nobis

Somewhere between beer, brats, and honoring our servicemen this weekend, Paul Rowland managed to snag two of Elite's top girls, Bambi Northwood Blyth and Julia Nobis. Can anyone explain what's going on over at Ford? They got sick of doing their own scouting so they have opted for stealing other people's earners instead? I smell lawsuit.

You Are What You Make Yourself, But Your Always Welcome Here

Blurring the lines of fashion, art, and politics comes the brainchild of contemporary American painter, William Quigley, Skrapper teeshirts.

Considered "high end" clothing for those who enjoy luxury but wouldn't be caught dead in a suit, Skrapper tees, designed by photographer/designer Katie Theofilos, combine Quigley's art with grafitti style graphics. Their website boasts that they are a "fight cry for our generation of Americans." Groovy.

Although a bit pricey (the cheapest I found online was $70!) Skrapper tees are considered a piece of art, so I guess when you think of it that way, you're getting a deal.

Those of you in the midwest can check out the Skrapper sample sale in Milwaukee at The Londonberry Showroom starting Friday May 27th. Details follow in flyer below.

I have always said Wixson can't walk, but I didn't realize it was this dramatic, no?

Because It Went So Well the First Time

Some of the saddest news I have heard in a bit- America's Next Top Model is coming out with an All Stars season. Apparently these wanna be model's haven't quite realized it just ain't gonna happen for them, or, that actual real, successful modeling careers aren't launched on television. Name me one WINNER of the series who sustains herself solely on the modeling career she began on the show and you'll win a prize. For real.

Followed is some of the reported cast. Some, because I don't care enough to look them all up.

Cycle 1 runner up Shannon Stewart. She was at one time signed with Bleu Mgmt in Los Angeles and judging by this Dillards ad I found via google, worked at least once.

Oh look, someone invited this one to a party. Good for her making friends! Brittany Bower of cycle 4. She's got to be hitting close to 40 by now, no?

Ah christ, this one too. Hasn't anyone told Tyra that models are children, not middle aged women starving for attention? Lisa D'amato, cycle 5. (didn't she piss herself or something??)

Bree Scullark of cycle 5 used to be on Ford's New York and LA boards. Maybe they dropped her when she went all "Shaniqua" on some lady in a NYC Starbucks. Read about that, here.

And that folks, is all I have the stomach for. If you really care, find the rest of the All Star cast at Zap 2 It.

Kloss Flaunts Fast Fashion

Honestly, I am not sure how to even comment on this. Next superstar Karlie Kloss for H&M's fall 2011 lookbook. First Freja made it cool, Giselle seemed cheap enough but in an expensive way, but Karlie? Not sure that I am buying it. She looks beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I think Karlie is more believable on the pages of Vogue than in the window of your small town's mall.

Supermodel, singer/ song writer Karen Elson has added designer to her resume. Elson has designed a limited edition, vintage inspired accessories collection for Nine West due out this fall. Bravo Nine West- you have succeeded in coming up with a marketing ploy that will get me to enter my first Nine West store ever.

40yrs Never Looked So Fun

In celebration of Mulberry's 40th anniversary, the brand best known for their luxury handbags have come out with a 480 page "fly on the wall" retrospective of the brand. Aside from the introduction by Mulberry founder Roger Saul, the book is chalk full of photos of everything from past campaigns, behind the scenes shots from parties, fashion shows, and even the brand's Somerset factory and shops. The book can be purchased at select Mulberry stores and online for a respectable $90(USD).

Favorites At the Met Gala 2011

Admittedly, I am a bit underwhelmed by the fashion choices at last might's Met Costume Gala in NYC. Here are the few that did manage to stand out.
*designers are listed where possible. If I missed one & you know who made it, fill us in!*

Emily Browning, Cara Delevigne and Douglas Booth.

Emma Roberts in Michael Kors and Dakota Fanning in Valentino.

Peter Dundas & Jessica Chastain in Pucci, Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci.

Vera Wang in I assume, Vera Wang, and Rosie Huntington- Whiteley.

A Little Uper & A Little Downer

Currently obsessed with these little aliens, Cody Young and Rosemary Smith.

A little creeped out by this elder alien, (he has to be from another world, right?) Karl Lagerfeld.

"What in the world is he doing" you ask? Oh nothing. Just touching his chocolate sculpture of Italian model Baptiste Giabiconi while standing in the chocolate hotel room he created. Why, what are you doing???

A little uper and a little downer for your afternoon folks.

Fix Me Mr. Rowland

Next glamazon Catherine McNeil has jumped ship and scooted her way over to Paul Rowland's image board at Ford. No word as to what prompted the switch, but something tells me that after McNeil's self- hair chopping meltdown this past New Year, Next wasn't too upset to see her go.

Retirement Suites You- Really

Looking not at all a supermodel, Cindy Crawford scores the May cover of Mexican Vogue. It appears that perhaps Ms. Crawford has had some work done (ala Janice Dickinson perhaps?) and is a bit more than uncomfortable in front of the camera. I get that it's been awhile since you're hayday Cindy, but holy stiff pose and awkward face.

More JC Penney home goods, less high fashion please.

Coachella Disasters 2011

Has hipster died and been reincarnated as mis-matched slutty?

Good move on the Uggs. I can see how this outdoor music festival in LA could be mistaken for a midwestern college campus in December.

Cool kid wanna be brought to you by Wetseal.

Da na na na, na na, na na- can't touch this. No really, I'm not even going to touch this.

Oh the Drama

Rumor has it there was quite the change up at the Mert & Alas set of the highly anticipated Versace campaign. The pair is said to have begun shooting 6 girls, among them Candice Swanepoel and Daphne Groeneveld, but by the final day had sent everyone home to make it a one gal only show. Model watchers on Fashin have placed their bets, and with the only information being that chosen one is a "dark, short haired cover star" the most likely guesses would be...

Saskia de Brauw or Eliza Cummings. Although I am not sure how much of a "cover star" I would consider Eliza, so my money is on Saskia.

Who do you think should be the next face of Versace?

Still Kicking Ass & Taking Names

Not sure what I am more impressed with here- the beautiful fashion, or the way these women wear them.

American Vogue previews the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Savage Beauty, a tribute to the late Alexander McQueen.

Karen Elson, drop dead gorgeous and serving it at 32 years, showing her preteen colleagues how it's done.

All American beauty Karlie Kloss, already a veteran and icon in the industry at the young age of 19. This girl can pose the hell out of anyone.

Brazilian supermodel Raquel Zimmerman, proving you still be brilliant and in demand at 28.

Rock on ladies, rock on.

Child Labor

Really. You're not that cute.

11 year old Cecilia Cassini is the self proclaimed "youngest fashion designer" in America. Her clothes are a tiny version of something you would imagine Paris Hilton would wear. Yes, ewww. But either way, more power to her for being more "successful" and sadly, probably richer, than I am while she's only in the 6th grade. Anyway- I have to wonder, what is our fascination with small things? Think about it. This girl isn't a talented designer and she's a diva brat who needs to be reeled in a bit (see video below), but she's small, and young, so we love her? Second example- Tavi of Style Rookie. At 11 years old this kid starts a fashion blog and since, has been invited to fashion shows all over the world and appeared in New York Times Magazine and Teen Vogue. And for what? For being a fashion icon? Please. Find me one outfit this kid has put together that any self respecting, fashionable adult would wear and I will give you my Louboutins. And hello- some of the worlds most in demand supermodels have yet to celebrate their 18th birthdays. What's the deal folks? Are we dried up at 20 yrs now? *Shudders* I dread to think.

Live In My Closet Please

I couldn't pick just one. I had a hard time narrowing it down to 4. I would like one of each please, the whole outfit, from All Saints.

All Saints, is in my opinion, the hippest clothing retailer there is for women, men, and children. (see my post on their kid's clothes *here*) Started in 1994 in England, All Saints has since branched out throughout Europe and the United States and also has a major presence on the world wide web.

All Saints, BE my closet please.
