Blurring the lines of fashion, art, and politics comes the brainchild of contemporary American painter, William Quigley, Skrapper teeshirts.

Considered "high end" clothing for those who enjoy luxury but wouldn't be caught dead in a suit, Skrapper tees, designed by photographer/designer Katie Theofilos, combine Quigley's art with grafitti style graphics. Their website boasts that they are a "fight cry for our generation of Americans." Groovy.

Although a bit pricey (the cheapest I found online was $70!) Skrapper tees are considered a piece of art, so I guess when you think of it that way, you're getting a deal.

Those of you in the midwest can check out the Skrapper sample sale in Milwaukee at The Londonberry Showroom starting Friday May 27th. Details follow in flyer below.

Because It Went So Well the First Time

Some of the saddest news I have heard in a bit- America's Next Top Model is coming out with an All Stars season. Apparently these wanna be model's haven't quite realized it just ain't gonna happen for them, or, that actual real, successful modeling careers aren't launched on television. Name me one WINNER of the series who sustains herself solely on the modeling career she began on the show and you'll win a prize. For real.

Followed is some of the reported cast. Some, because I don't care enough to look them all up.

Cycle 1 runner up Shannon Stewart. She was at one time signed with Bleu Mgmt in Los Angeles and judging by this Dillards ad I found via google, worked at least once.

Oh look, someone invited this one to a party. Good for her making friends! Brittany Bower of cycle 4. She's got to be hitting close to 40 by now, no?

Ah christ, this one too. Hasn't anyone told Tyra that models are children, not middle aged women starving for attention? Lisa D'amato, cycle 5. (didn't she piss herself or something??)

Bree Scullark of cycle 5 used to be on Ford's New York and LA boards. Maybe they dropped her when she went all "Shaniqua" on some lady in a NYC Starbucks. Read about that, here.

Kloss Flaunts Fast Fashion

Honestly, I am not sure how to even comment on this. Next superstar Karlie Kloss for H&M's fall 2011 lookbook. First Freja made it cool, Giselle seemed cheap enough but in an expensive way, but Karlie? Not sure that I am buying it. She looks beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I think Karlie is more believable on the pages of Vogue than in the window of your small town's mall.

11 year old Cecilia Cassini is the self proclaimed "youngest fashion designer" in America. Her clothes are a tiny version of something you would imagine Paris Hilton would wear. Yes, ewww. But either way, more power to her for being more "successful" and sadly, probably richer, than I am while she's only in the 6th grade. Anyway- I have to wonder, what is our fascination with small things? Think about it. This girl isn't a talented designer and she's a diva brat who needs to be reeled in a bit (see video below), but she's small, and young, so we love her? Second example- Tavi of Style Rookie. At 11 years old this kid starts a fashion blog and since, has been invited to fashion shows all over the world and appeared in New York Times Magazine and Teen Vogue. And for what? For being a fashion icon? Please. Find me one outfit this kid has put together that any self respecting, fashionable adult would wear and I will give you my Louboutins. And hello- some of the worlds most in demand supermodels have yet to celebrate their 18th birthdays. What's the deal folks? Are we dried up at 20 yrs now? *Shudders* I dread to think.

Oooohhh Abercrombie.

Take a second look at this photo. It's not just a swimsuit I saw, thought was cute, and decided to share. This is not a "Live In My Closet Please" folks, this is a screen shot of a push up swimsuit- for little girls.

Abercrombie, a company known by me as the store I can't even walk past because of the overwhelming smell of their perfume which is rumored to be pushed through their air vents, and by their target consumer, tweens and teenagers 7 years and up, as the place you buy your clothes if you want to be noticed in middle school. Overpriced, too short denim shorts, mass produced plaids, chatchy polos, and now, push up swimsuits. Everything a 7 year old ever needed, all under one, smell engulfing roof.

I can't bring myself to pick sides in this argument. Is it gross to try to sexualize a young child? Absolutely. Is it a massive company's responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen? No. It is a parent's. Abercrombie's sole purpose is to sell sell sell and they'll sell whatever they think you'll buy. Anyway lets face it folks, if it's not padded for them, they'll shove tissue in their tops and make it padded.

For months now many (not I) waited in anticipation for the Blake Lively Chanel campaign. Well folks, here it is, and as I expected- YAWN. Nothing exciting. The problem is, Lively looks like she acts- slow, monotone, oddly whispery. It's as though I keep. Waiting. For. Something. To. Happen. And it never does. Damnit Lagerfeld, this could have been awesome. Instead I am bored.

In other not so exciting news, Gisele's H&M campaign has been released.

They must have raised their day rate.

Models Never Lie

Well, well, well, looks like Women's newest it girl isn't so new after all....

Britt Maren, or Maren Stavinoha rather, burst onto the fashion scene after opening Alexander Wang's S/S 10 show this past fall. Since then her chart has been full of bookings from clients such as American Vogue and W Magazine, and all that time she & her agency spread her tale of a girl plucked from obscurity in Texas and brought to New York a mere weeks before the season that changed her life. So now, I gotta call a big, loud, BS! I am not dogging this girl, I think she's beautiful and I find it truly heartening that a girl who has busted her ass and paid her dues makes good. What I find bothersome is, why the lie? Why can't she be Maren Stavinoha, used to be signed with Click but after a move to a better agency, Women, finally got noticed by the right people? What is with fashion's obsession with youth and "freshness"? Could it be that Maren is actually much older than her claimed 20 years and her agency is afraid that will scare away potential clients? Quite possibly. Still lame, because past puberty or not, if a girl is beautiful and knows how to model, does age or previous modeling history really matter that much? It shouldn't, but hey, what do I know. Congratulations Miss Maren- I hope one day you come out with an autobiographical tell all where you expose the fact that you're actually 30 and fooled all your fashion clients into making you a millionaire.

Balmain's Christopher Decarnin

There must be something in that Paris air. First Galliano has a very public, career damaging crazy attack in public (and camera) view, and now, Balmain's Christopher Decarnin was mysteriously absent from the collection's F/W 2011 show today. Rumor has it he ducked into a mental hospital back in January and that the collection was actually designed by his in-house team. Balmain owner, Alain Hivelin, tried to dispel rumours by saying something along the lines that Decarnin had not gone crazy, he was simply tired and at home resting. Sure... a lot of designers skip their own shows to get a little shut eye, totally buying it!

In better news for the company, the collection is pretty fantastic.

Today Calvin Klein unveiled the first of the CK One lifestyle collection campaign shots. This one features Calvin Klein veteran Lara Stone.

Shot by Steven Meisel, the same photographer who shot the infamous Kate Moss/ Marky Mark CK campaign of the 90's, this campaign will feature an array of models, musicians, actors, etc.

According to Vogue UK, Kevin Carrigan, global creative director said, "We put them all in a room, just a big mirrored box surrounded by cameras, and let them try the collection. The CK One collection is not about wearing clothes the way you've been told, it's about making them your own."

Better than Mark Wahlberg sans shirt? Only time will tell.

There seems to be an escalating trend happening in the fashion industry, and that is making the boys look like the girls. The fashion industry has always loved pushing the sexuality envelope, and companies like American Apparel have made unisex clothing a much more mainstream prerogative. But still, I have to ask, what's the point? Don't get me wrong, I love my man in a good pair of skinny jeans, and realize that this may be a slightly more feminine option, however, he still looks like a man, just in tighter pants. Who exactly are these new images marketing too? Transsexual men only? It seems to me that men should have the option of being strong, manly, and fashionable. Can't this be a world where a tight pair of pants is simply that- a pair of pants? I digress...

Male models don't work or make nearly as much as female models do, so bravo to the very beautiful men making a name for themselves however they can. Gotta tell you though, I prefer my boys to be men, not women. Just sayin...

Cup Size Confusion

Growing up I was always the too skinny, flat chested girl. I didn't start developing anything that couldn't hang out in a training bra until I was almost 18 and by this point I had become ok with the idea that I would never have a voluptuous chest. In fact, the older I got the more thankful I became for my 32Bs. They were big enough to give me some cleavage when wanted and small enough that I could still go bra less in plunging necklines or on super humid days.

This past weekend, without a care in the world I wandered into Victoria's Secret. Seeing a bra I liked I mosied on in to try it on. The theft tag was placed very near the hooks so I had to ask the dressing room attendant to help me get the bra closed. Imagine my amazement when the lady clipped the bra and exclaimed, "Oh dear, you need a much larger size than that!" I explained to to her that no, in almost 30 years of life and close to 15 years of bra wearing days I have always, always been a 32B. "Not anymore!" she explained.

Just to prove the absurdity of my afternoon, I bought the 32D bra that apparently is my "perfect" fit to show my fiancee. My mind was reeling on the way home- why the sudden and rather large jump in my cup size? Weight gain? Pregnancy? Neither of these possibilities appealed to me whatsoever.

My fiancee swears my breasts don't look any larger, and I haven't gained nor am I expecting. I have to admit though, the bra feels great. Then again- so does one of my favorite 32B numbers I bought a few weeks ago. I have to wonder, is it a marketing ploy? VS has some of the most sexed up advertising I have ever seen. So much in fact, you'd think they were marketing to men rather than women (ahem!)... So do they think by offering different sizing us girls with little boobs are going to feel sexier when they tell us we have a large chest? Are we going to want to buy more of their bras? Miranda Kerr posted this photo of her nursing new baby son Flynn, on the site for her skin care line Kora Organics. Suspiciously the site hasn't been working since the photo was posted, but trust, it was up there.

While there is nothing raunchy about this photo and it's a beautiful shot for Kerr & husband, actor Orlando Bloom to have, is it really the kind of photo you share with the world? Poor little Flynn is going to hate them when he's older.

Kudos however to the Victoria's Secret Angel who looks gorgeous post natural birth of an almost 10 pound baby. We can all wish to be as lucky.

Celebrity stylist turned fashion designer Rachel Zoe, previewed her collection yesterday and thanks to a fashion news director with a memory like an elephant, Zoe can be called out for exactly what she is- a hack. A hack with no creativity or talent at that. Pictured above is a photo tweeted by Teen Vogue's Jane Keltner de Valle showing Zoe styling a Vogue intern in a dress credited as "What Comes Around Goes Around vintage dress" in October 2007 on the left. On the right is a photo of one of Zoe's so called designs. Now, I'm no designer, and I do understand how one may be inspired by pieces they have seen in the past, but I am going to stand out on the ledge here and proclaim this an almost identical copy. Vintage inspired replica I suppose? Rachel, I suggest you go back to what you're good at- convincing young starlets to starve themselves and blogging like a teenage girl. Leave the designing to those who know how. (The person who ACTUALLY designed this dress, for example.)

16 year old Lindsey Wixson is the face for Alexander McQueen s/s 2011. Landing a major ad campaign for a massive fashion name is always huge, but this is an even bigger honor considering this is the first campaign shot for the fashion house since McQueen's untimely death in February of last year. It would never have been a match I would have made but I must say, Wixson is almost perfect here. Congratulations & bravo to all involved.

No? It's none other than supermodel Catherine McNeil.

Sporting a new bob/pixie cut and a bull ring nose ring, McNeil looks nothing like the stunner who has graced Vogue covers, numerous editorials, and Dior and Givenchy campaigns. (to name a few)

The 21 year old Australian has been modeling since she was 14. Rumors of retirement and a supposed break up with her VJ girlfriend Ruby Rose have been circling the model for months. My fingers are crossed that the rumors are exactly that, rumors, and that McNeil's new do will only score her those edgier bookings for f/w 2011.

Yes. Bedazzling & tattooing for your vag. All I have to say about this is- why? Is this even safe? According to the "Official Vajazzling Website" yes it is. I must divulge however, get one look at their cheaply made website and it makes me wonder where these things (the jewels and tattoos that is) come from. Probably not the sterile environment one should hope for when buying their genital decorations.

Vaginal Bleaching and Dying

Were you even aware that there is a "color" that your vagina should strive to be? I cannot be sure what that color is exactly, but there are a series of dyes and bleaches that can help you to achieve that level of greatness. As if we don't have enough to worry about, now there's vaginal racism? WTF? Raise your hand if the idea of bleach down there sounds at all desirable. Anyone? Anyone?

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

This ladies and gentleman, is a procedure that tightens vaginal muscles and support tissues resulting in prettier lady pieces. So technically, it's a facelift for your vagina. This procedure costs upwards in the $9000 range and if you've got enough money to waste on something so ridiculous, take it outside and burn it because getting this done makes you the most superficial person in the world.

There you have it. Three unique ways to jazz up your vag. Odd that we can't cure cancer, but we can come up with this crap.

Ahhh, when will people stick to what they are good too? Being on album covers is not the same thing as making an album Miss Moss.

The UK Daily Mail has reported that supermodel Kate Moss is rumored to be recording an album. No stranger to the music scene, Moss has dated many a musician and her current beau, Jamie Hince, is the guitarist The Kills. Does her talent in musical, ahem, "networking" guarantee a smooth transition to the world's second most difficult industry to crack? No, but because of my fear that this could turn into another "Shake Ya Body" fiasco (please see below)- I sure hope it does.

Have they lost their minds over there at John Galliano? They have some of the worst casting in the history of advertising. Lindsey Wixson was a terrible choice for f/w 10 but they've outdone themselves with this one. Taylor Momsen, most noteably of Gossip Girl fame for their new fragrance Parlez-moi d'Amour. A grumpy, want- to- be rockstar teenager with too much makeup on doesn't exactly scream high end to me. Honestly, one look at the campaign video below makes me itch a bit. Egh.

Next time you're looking for a model guys, call me, I'll help you do some sorting.

Our Fashion Favorite 2010

It's almost 2011! It's hard to believe that I remember New Years Eve 99'-00" like it was yesterday. It's even harder to believe how old I am getting. Anyway....

Best dressed this year, my book anyway, is a tie. In no particular order, first up is Alexa Chung.

Always a fan favorite, Alexa has an impeccable way of mixing vintage and high end pieces while always turning up looking fabulous. Watch for more of Alexa in 2011 when she hosts PBS's "Thrift America", a show where Chung will thrift shop her way around the country.

Tied with Alexa is IMG mannequin Frida Gustavsson.

The seventeen year old Swedish model who has appeared in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, and Jill Stuart (to name a few...) is always a favorite of Street Style bloggers for her unique yet classy style.

I'd also like to throw our a very hefty honorable mention to French actress Clemence Poesy.

I have a feeling that the more we see of this girl the more of a fashion icon she'll become.

Bring on 2011!

American Prosperity Made In China

I am sure you have all heard about the GAP rebranding nonsense, when they changed from their classic blue logo to a cheap looking boring one?

Anyway, as if that wasn't enough bad press for The Gap this year, bring on the FEED USA Campaign. The intention is good- for every reusable shopping bag purchased, The Gap promises to donate $5 to the nation's school lunch programs. All would have been well if they had left it at that, but The Gap had to take it one step further and get extra patriotic on us. Bags, and in store signage are emblazed with the message "Made in the USA". As shown in the photo below by Thomas Martin (via imgur) the tag reads "Made in China"

Baby Don't Hurt Me, No More

So maybe the decade technically ended last New Years, but I missed the boat. With 2010 rolled up in there The Fitting Room offers you without further adieu, the Top Ten Worst Fashion & Beauty Trends (that I could think of) of the Past Decade!

1.
Kate Gosselin, a woman who is famous for nothing but popping out a bunch of rugrats, gets one more star in her book as far as I am concerned. Kate should also be famous for introducing America to the absolute worst haircut of the decade. Whomever told her this was a good idea needs their cosmetology license stripped immediately.

2.
Over tanning. Aside from being dangerous to your health, it's also an eyesore. As if Paris isn't dirty enough already, I just want to wipe her face. Eggghhh.

2011 Sneak Peek

Ringing in the New Year with yet another Vogue cover under her belt is American actress Natalie Portman. Portman wears a gorgeous J. Mendel dress shown on the runway below and promotes her new movie The Black Swan. Add 8" to the actresses slight 5'3" frame and I think I would believe her a model.

Dress by J. Mendel which btw- does NOT resemble the Rodarte on a previous cover with the exception that they are both shades of pink. US Vogue January 2011.

Next up is a concoction of two of my least favorites, model Lily Dondaldson shot by photographer Terry Richardson for the January 2011 issue of Harpers Bazaar. Who knew so much sleaze could fit into one magazine issue? I am offering up a mighty fine reward for anyone who can give me a good, legitimate reason that either of these two are still working.

She's not cute & I have a sneaking suspicion she's on something or has something because she itches a lot for a girl who's clean. He's a confirmed pervert & public masturbator. Harpers, you couldn't find better? I am boycotting.

And finally, I would like to thank Givenchy for keeping it awesome. The 2011 campaign featuring Daphne Groeneveld of Women and albino model Stephen Thompson is stunning- absolutely frame able.

Super mannequins Karmen Pedaru(pictured above) and Anna Jagodzinska are suing their former agency Next Models claiming that since they have left to seek other representation Next has flat out refused to pay them what they are allegedly still owed. Alexa Chung- Digging Through a Garage Sale Near You

Alexa Chung, British model, television host, Madewell designer but most notably Queen of all things hipster has recently announced a new project. Chung will be teaming up with the PBS network on "Thrift America", a show that will follow her as she thrifts and garage sales her way around the country.

In typical English fashion Ms. Chung has a talent for layering and is known for mixing vintage finds with more current high end designs. A regular on the show circuit and one of Vogue's Best Dressed Woman of the Year, one can only assume that all eyes will be peeled at the opportunity to find out how Chung dresses for less.

Unless you have been living under a rock lately you've heard that H&M is teaming with yet another big name to sell "designer" items at fast fashion prices. In the past Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo, & Sonia Rykiel have teamed with the shopping mall powerhouse, and this time high end European fashion house Lanvin takes it's turn.

Lanvin has been called the "epitome of French elegance" and is known for it's discreet elegance. Until now, fans in the United States had to either have access to Barney's New York or one of the three Lanvin Boutiques in the country if they wanted to purchase their fashions. Teaming with H&M not only brings the designs to middle America but also to a price point that we can live with.

Thanks H&M, it's starting to look a lot better around here.

Ask any agency/model stalker what the biggest news story so far this year, and they'll probably tell you about the Paul Rowland-Ford-Woman-Supreme switch up. For those of you not in the loop, photographer & most notably founder of Women and Supreme Management in New York City, Paul Rowland, left his seat at Supreme to head up the woman's board at cookie cutter agency, Ford Models. Rumor has it Rowland had a "huge" salary at the agency he founded back in 1988 but wasn't happy with the management, so he left. His arrival at Ford bumping former head of the woman's board Caroline Poznanski from her seat, she chose to go over to Supreme to take Rowland's old job. Confused yet? Try being their models. Chanel Iman, formally of Ford has defected to the once edgy Supreme (and in this writer's opinion, doesn't fit in at all...) while the super editorial Hanne Gaby Odiele sashayed on over to the uber commercial Ford. Getting dizzy yet? I am.

Will Ford no longer be the 'girl next door' go to agency it has been for the past 52 years? Probably not. Hear what Rowland has to say about American girls and his vision for the new Ford Models in his New York Times interview by David Amsden.

Three's a crowd? Well how about four?

The editors of UK Elle, British Vogue, Swedish Elle, and W Magazine all had a big surprise when they stopped at their local magazine stand this month. All four major fashion publications featured the same Miu Miu applique dress on their cover. Lorraine Candy, the editor of British Vogue explained that while it is not uncommon for the same dress to be used simultaneously on magazine covers in different countries, it is pretty much unheard of that the same dress be used on more than one magazine cover in the same country.

"In ten years of editing I have never known this to happen," she says.

So whose to blame for this blunder? It's hard to say. Miu Miu could have, in fact, broken an unwritten rule by allowing the dress to be shipped to four major publications for cover use, but it has also been speculated that perhaps one of the magazines may have been trying to one up a rival. Either way, score one for Miu Miu. As if four covers at a time wasn't enough publicity, the banter about it now will surely garner them even more attention.

The Gap's new kicks

This fall The Gap will be introducing a full collection of shoes including wedges, booties, clogs, and a collaboration with the man behind Balenciaga's stilettos, Pierre Hardy. Thus far bloggers and other online fashion critics seem to be in love. Although I give them credit for going outside The Gap box (these shoes do not at all remind me of jeans and a classic tee...) I must say the shoes themselves are a little "Jenny from the block" for me. (if you're catching what I am throwing) Who knows though, in person, they may be super chic. Way to strategize Gap- whether I actually buy the shoes or not you have found a way to get me into the store for the first time since I was 15. Now that's marketing.
